Melilla Basketball Club Shines at Spanish 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball Championship

The Melilla Basketball Club demonstrated strong performance at the Spanish 3×3 School Age Wheelchair Basketball Championship for Regional Teams (CESA 2026), held on March 20 and 21 in Molina de Segura, Murcia. Despite lacking a local league or regular competition within the city, two teams from Melilla showcased a competitive spirit.

A total of 18 individuals, including players and accompanying family members, represented the Autonomous City of Melilla. Fans from Melilla actively supported both teams throughout the 11 matches played.

Match Results

Melilla 1 secured victories against Murcia 2 (5-8) and Castilla-La Mancha (1-3) in their five games. Melilla 2 achieved wins against Castilla-La Mancha (6-1), Murcia 2 (5-2), and Valencia 2 (0-11) during their six matches. Both teams also competed against formidable opponents from the Basque Country, Madrid, Navarra, Aragon, and Catalonia.

Karim Abdelkader, coach of both Melilla teams and a player for Melilla Ciudad del Deporte Wheelchair Basketball, expressed his satisfaction and pride in his players’ performance. He highlighted not only their skill on the court but also their enthusiasm and enjoyment throughout the competition.

Players

The Melilla teams included the following players: Adam Koulati, Haron Mohamed, Nour Mohamed, Carmen Porras, Zineb Darkaoui, Bilel Boumandi, Soufian Bouchaoni, and Ismael Menéndez.
