Dartmouth Men’s Lacrosse Secures First Win Against Vermont

HOOKSET, N.H. — The Dartmouth men’s lacrosse team defeated the Vermont Catamounts 15-10 on Friday, earning their first win of the season. The game, considered a road win for the Big Green, was played in Hookset, New Hampshire.

Early Dartmouth Dominance

Dartmouth opened the scoring just 1:08 into the contest with a goal from Quinn Stankovits, establishing a 1-0 lead. Tyler Juhlin extended the advantage to 2-0 at the 11:36 mark. Vermont responded with a goal at 10:40, but Dartmouth quickly regained momentum. Stankovits and Alex Jessey scored within a minute of each other, increasing the lead to 4-1 at 8:30.

Following Vermont’s second goal, Dartmouth launched a five-goal streak, building a commanding 9-2 lead with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter. Vermont managed to score twice before the end of the quarter, narrowing the gap to 9-3.

Dartmouth Maintains Control

Vermont scored the first goal of the second quarter, but Dartmouth answered with a goal from Stu Gates at 11:58. The teams continued to trade goals, with Juhlin scoring with just two seconds left in the half, giving Dartmouth a 12-6 lead at halftime.

Jessey scored Dartmouth’s lone goal in the third quarter, while Vermont added two, making the score 13-8 in favor of the Big Green.

Final Quarter and Key Performances

Both teams scored twice in the fourth quarter, with Stankovits and Thomas Power contributing goals for Dartmouth.

Dartmouth outshot Vermont 40-37, with 22 shots on goal compared to Vermont’s 15. Max Becker, in his second collegiate game, started in goal for Dartmouth and made five saves. Quinn Stankovits led the Dartmouth offense with five goals and an assist. Power finished with two goals and two assists, while Gates, Juhlin, and Jessey each recorded two goals and an assist.

Spencer Reagan dominated at the faceoff X, winning 15 of 22 attempts, maintaining a 65.2% win rate through two games.

Upcoming Game

Dartmouth will host Merrimack on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 4 PM for their home opener. The game will be broadcast on NESN+ and ESPN+.
