Mercedes-AMG GT SUV Debuts on an 800-Volt Platform With Up to 1,169 Horsepower

Mercedes-AMG has introduced the all-electric GT SUV, a performance vehicle built on an advanced 800-volt architecture and available in three distinct power variants, Garáz.cz reported. The vehicle features all-wheel drive, active aerodynamics, and battery capacities reaching up to 128 kWh depending on the chosen model tier.

AMG GT 53 SUV Delivers 544 Horsepower as the Entry-Level Variant

The base AMG GT 53 SUV utilizes two electric motors and an all-wheel-drive system to generate 544 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. It achieves a top speed of 250 km/h and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, or 3.8 seconds utilizing a 30.48-centimeter rollout. The variant relies on a usable battery capacity of 106 kWh, providing a WLTP-normed driving range between 597 and 668 kilometers. Maximum DC fast-charging capacity reaches 600 kW.

AMG GT 55 and GT 63 Variants Introduce Three-Motor Layouts

Stepping up the performance ladder, the AMG GT 55 SUV and the flagship AMG GT 63 SUV both adopt a three-motor setup and all-wheel drive. The GT 55 produces 816 horsepower and 1,816 Nm of torque, hitting a top speed of 270 km/h and reaching 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, or 2.8 seconds with rollout. The GT 63 increases output to 1,169 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque, completing the sprint in 2.5 seconds with rollout or 2.7 seconds from a dead stop.

Buyers of the GT 55 and GT 63 can select between a 106 kWh and a 128 kWh traction battery. The smaller pack yields a range of 525 to 585 kilometers, while the larger pack extends range to between 620 and 700 kilometers. DC fast-charging peaks at 600 kW for the 106 kWh battery and 710 kW for the 128 kWh battery.

Active Aerodynamics and Chassis Technology Manage Weight

The performance SUV measures just over five meters in length and spans a weight range from 2,525 kg to 2,715 kg depending on the specification. Mercedes-AMG equips the vehicle with an adaptive air suspension featuring active body roll stabilization. An active aerodynamic system keeps drag low at speeds under 150 km/h, deploying a roof spoiler alongside other elements at 150 km/h and above to generate downforce.

Agility is managed via active rear-axle steering that pivots up to 6 degrees. Carbon-ceramic brakes come standard on the GT 63 and are offered as an option on the GT 55. Drivers can also engage a sport driving mode that simulates the sound, gear shifts, and seat vibrations of a traditional V8 or V6 engine.

Interior Layout and Sindelfingen Production Plans

Inside the cabin, the layout features a driver-oriented cockpit with a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment display, and an optional 14-inch passenger screen. The artificial intelligence-backed operating system includes real-time track data and pre-mapped global racing circuits. Luggage capacity totals 607 liters in the rear trunk, supplemented by a 78-liter front trunk.

Production will take place at Hall 32 of the Sindelfingen plant near Stuttgart in Germany, where core body components are also fabricated. While official pricing for the SUV variants has not yet been announced, the mechanically related Mercedes-AMG GT four-door fastback starts at 3,787,300 CZK and reaches 4,706,900 CZK in the Czech market.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV

What are the charging capabilities of the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV?

The vehicle operates on an advanced 800-volt architecture supporting DC fast-charging speeds up to 600 kW for the 106 kWh battery and up to 710 kW for the larger 128 kWh battery.

Mercedes CLA EV Unveiled With 800V Architecture, 320kW Charging & Huge Range!

How does the active aerodynamics system function while driving?

At speeds below 150 km/h, aerodynamic elements reduce drag. Once the vehicle exceeds 150 km/h, the roof spoiler and complementary components deploy to create downforce and improve stability.

Where is the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV manufactured?

Production is scheduled for Hall 32 at Mercedes-Benz’s Sindelfingen facility located near Stuttgart, Germany, which also builds the vehicle’s key body components.
