PROGRESO, Mexico – March 20, 2026 – Volunteers in Mexico are loading supplies onto a fleet of ships bound for Cuba as part of a growing international effort to provide humanitarian aid to the island nation, which is grappling with severe economic challenges and widespread power outages. Growing International Support

The initiative, dubbed “Nuestra América: Convoy to Cuba,” is a non-governmental effort urging volunteers worldwide to send essential goods – particularly food, medicine, and energy supplies – to a central collection point in Cuba. The first vessel departed from the port of Progreso, Yucatán, on Thursday, with three more scheduled to sail from Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, on Friday.
