Notre Dame Women’s Tennis Falls to Miami 4-2
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 36 Notre Dame women’s tennis team suffered a 4-2 defeat against the No. 54 University of Miami Hurricanes on Thursday, February 21, 2026, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The loss halted Notre Dame’s winning streak.
Doubles Play
Miami secured the doubles point with victories in two of the three matches. Raquel Gonzalez and Dominica Podhajecka defeated Bianca Molnar and Sophia Holod 7-5. Rylie Hanford and Gabriella Rawles of Notre Dame won against Aely Arai and Sebastianna Scilipoti 6-1. The final doubles match saw Maria Vargas and Daria Volosova of Miami defeat Akari Matsuno and Bojana Pozder 6-4.
Singles Competition
The singles matchups proved competitive, with Miami ultimately claiming four of the six contests.
- Raquel Gonzalez (Miami) defeated Bianca Molnar (Notre Dame) 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
- Sofia Rocchetti (Miami) vs. Akari Matsuno (Notre Dame) was unfinished, with the score at 4-6, 7-6(6).
