Miami Open 2026: Gauff and Muchova Advance to Semifinals
Coco Gauff secured her place in the first Miami Open semifinal of her career after a hard-fought three-set victory over Belinda Bencic, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.[1] The world number four battled for two hours and fifteen minutes to overcome her Swiss opponent, saving four of five break points on her serve.[1] Gauff will now face Karolina Muchova in the semifinals.
Muchova earned her semifinal spot by defeating Victoria Mboko in the quarterfinals. [2] This will be the sixth meeting between Gauff and Muchova, with Muchova having lost all five previous matches. She has only managed to win one set in their encounters, which occurred in the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year. [2]
Sinner Extends Winning Streak, Reaches Quarterfinals
Jannik Sinner continues his impressive form at the Miami Open, advancing to the quarterfinals without dropping a set. The Italian defeated Alex Michelsen 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in the fourth round.[1] This victory marks Sinner’s record-breaking 28th consecutive sets won at Masters 1000 tournaments.[1] Sinner, fresh off his triumph in Indian Wells, is aiming for the “Sunshine Double.”
Other Quarterfinal Results
Alexander Zverev also secured his place in the quarterfinals, defeating Quentin Halys in two tiebreaks, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-1).[1] Frances Cerundolo battled past Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-3, while Frances Tiafoe overcame Terence Atmane 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.[1] Tommy Paul also advanced, comfortably beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry.[1]
