Mickey Rourke Drops Gun, Leaves LA After Crowdfunding Controversy

Actor Mickey Rourke, known for his Oscar-nominated performance in The Wrestler, has publicly voiced his dismay regarding a crowdfunding campaign initiated on his behalf to address a substantial rent debt. The campaign arose following a report in the Los Angeles times in late December, detailing Rourke’s impending eviction due to an outstanding balance of $60,000.

Remarkably, the full amount was raised within two days of the crowdfunding effort’s launch. However, Rourke reacted with frustration and confusion, taking to Instagram to express his discomfort. In a now-circulated statement, he declared, “I’m not one to ask for charity, I would never ask for anything. I would rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.”

Rourke further explained his reluctance to accept the funds, suggesting that his non-payment of rent stemmed from unresolved issues with his landlord concerning animal-related disturbances. He implied that his complaints regarding the nuisance had been consistently ignored, contributing to his decision not to fulfill his rental obligations.
