Maine Realtors Boost Affordable Housing with $22,000 Donation

The Pen Bay Council of the Mid-Coast Board of REALTORS® recently presented over $22,000 to Homeworthy and Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, bolstering efforts to expand affordable housing options in Midcoast Maine. The funds were raised through community fundraising events throughout 2025, with a matching grant from the Maine Association of REALTORS® Foundation doubling the impact.

Supporting Local Housing Initiatives

The donation will be split between two key organizations. Midcoast Habitat for Humanity will utilize its portion of the funds towards the construction of a ten-home “pocket neighborhood” called Compass Point in Rockport . Homeworthy will focus on providing aftercare services to assist residents maintain stable housing, including access to education, job training, childcare, transportation, and healthcare .

A Collaborative Effort

Molly Feeney, Executive Director of Homeworthy, added, “This partnership has allowed us to invest in humans and housing at every level—from supporting the completion of 10 affordable housing units last year to investing in the people who live in our local homes by funding key aftercare services.”

Maine Association of Realtors Foundation’s Long-Term Commitment

The Maine Association of REALTORS® Foundation has been supporting housing-focused nonprofits across Maine for over three decades through its matching grant program. To date, the Foundation has provided nearly $1.9 million in matched funds, complementing local REALTOR fundraising efforts .

“The Maine Association of REALTORS Foundation supports local nonprofits that assist Mainers with home affordability while also encouraging local REALTORS to build an impact by organizing micro fundraising events,” said Mary Bumiller, Director of the Maine Association of REALTORS Foundation.
