Blizzard Entertainment has scheduled the release of the upcoming Midnight content update for October 14, introducing a single-boss raid against Kith’ix, a nine-chamber dungeon crawler named Kindo’jan, and a revamped mythic keystone system. Players can log in following the weekly maintenance to tackle the new challenges, which continue the narrative saga in Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman.
Mid-Patch Power Additions and Void-Glass Cores
Preparation for the update begins well ahead of the official launch. During the week of October 6, Orin Lostlight starts offering an additional weekly Void-glass core for bonus loot rolls. Champions of Azeroth must first complete “In the Shadow of the Catalyst” from Decimus in Voidstorm, followed by “Prismatic Potential” from Orin Lostlight in Silvermoon City. Finishing these prerequisites before the October 6 maintenance allows Orin to research “Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst,” enabling players to trade gold, Void-light loam, or Veteran-tier crests for an extra Void-glass core each week.
Following the October 14 maintenance, Orin provides a follow-up quest titled “Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom.” This triggers research into Ascendant venomstones, which concludes during the week of October 21. Players can then acquire Ascendant venomstones from all Mythic and Heroic raid bosses, Mythic+ dungeons at level 10 and above, level 11 bountiful delves, and Nightmare-difficulty Hunt champion equipment chests. Combining 10 Ascendant venomstones near the Silvermoon City catalyst upgrades a fully upgraded Season 2 tide-forged, mythic, or max-tier crafted weapon, trinket, or collar. The overall crest cap is permanently removed the week of October 21.
The Liberation of Kith’ix Single-Boss Raid
Hidden beneath the Venomous Abysm, the Amani-imprisoned monster Kith’ix breaks free following the defeat of Ula’tek. Players fight alongside Lady Liadrin in a single-boss raid encounter available in Story, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. In Mythic mode, guilds can challenge Kith’ix using a flexible group size ranging from 15 to 25 players. The encounter serves as the conclusion to the Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman storyline.
Kindo’jan Labyrinth and Companion Exploration
The ancient Amani burial complex known as the Kindo’jan labyrinth opens to players seeking megadungeon-scale rewards and combat. Guided by the loyal companion Valeera Sanguinar, players move through the nine-chamber underground complex either in a single continuous run or wing by wing. Venturing deeper into the tomb yields higher-tier rewards, including Mythic gear, though it scales up the danger presented by defensive spirits and rival treasure hunters.
Season 2 Mythic Keystone Difficulty and Rewards
The mythic keystone system returns in the Midnight content update to provide structured progression during the second half of the season. Players reaching a Mythic+ rating of 3,600 earn the “Midnight Keystone: Season 2” achievement. Alongside the keystone rollout, specific dungeons receive tuning adjustments to correct difficulty discrepancies across different groups and roles.
Aqir Invasions and Open-World Events
Open-world Aqir invasions take place across Eversong and Zul’Aman for 10 minutes every hour. The public events consist of six distinct quests split evenly between combat and non-combat objectives, culminating in a boss fight. Combat gestas feature eight potential affixes, including Void Protection, which deploys protective barriers via Void-weavers, and Void Infestation, where affected Aqir explode in combat.
