A Career Defined by Success
“I’ve had it in my head for years. Since the end of my career. Then I couldn’t say goodbye the way I wanted to as of the covid measures. Now I can,” Baroš stated, reflecting on the long-awaited opportunity to bid farewell to his fans. He officially retired in 2020 at the age of 38, concluding his fourth stint with Baník Ostrava due to Achilles tendon issues.
Baroš’s career is decorated with significant achievements, including a UEFA Champions League title with Liverpool in 2005, Ligue 1 with Lyon in 2007, the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008, and the Süper Lig with Galatasaray in 2012. He likewise enjoyed spells with Aston Villa, Antalyaspor, Liberec, and Mladá Boleslav.

The farewell match will feature a host of former teammates from both the Czech national team and his various club endeavors. Confirmed attendees include Steven Gerrard, Emile Heskey, Djibril Cissé, Jerzy Dudek, Emmanuel Eboué, Jan Koller, Tomáš Rosický, Petr Čech, Karel Poborský, and Vladimír Šmicer.

With 41 goals, Baroš stands as the second-highest scorer in the history of the Czech national team, trailing only Jan Koller. He notably excelled at Euro 2004, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals. According to Czech Wikipedia, he represented the Czech Republic in 93 matches.
