The free dance segment at the Milan Ice Skating Arena ended with a top-level performance by the reigning world champions. Madison Chock and Evan Bates, representing the United States of America, confirmed their leadership by obtaining a score of 133.23, which represents their seasonal record.

The American pair enchanted the audience and the technical jury with level four lifts and a very solid synchronized twizzle sequence. To the tune of Paint It Black, the Americans carried the entire stadium away, obtaining a final standing ovation. Despite some level threes in the step sequences and one-foot turns, their performance was judged the best of the lot, allowing their national team to consolidate its lead in the overall Olympic medal ranking.

After this test, the United States returns to the lead of the team race, followed by Japan and the Italian team, which remains firmly in the running for the podium thanks to the excellent performance of Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri. There are now only three segments left (pairs, women’s singles and men’s singles) to decide the winners of the title.

Masterful performance of the Italian team couple in the free dance of the team event. Guignard and Fabbri fired up the home crowd by obtaining a score of 124.22, accompanied by the “I-ta-lia” chants that filled the Milanese arena.

The blue pair showed almost perfect technical solidity, obtaining level four on almost all the elements performed; the only slight dips in the score came from the one-foot turn sequence and the circular step sequence.
