Minecraft is averaging more than 300,000 new players every single day, according to figures shared by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma during the Minecraft Live event. Alongside this ongoing daily growth, total lifetime sales for the 17-year-old sandbox title have surpassed 425 million units, cementing its status as the best-selling video game in history. The announcements came during a broadcast that detailed major upcoming additions to Mojang’s flagship franchise. The updates outline a multi-year content pipeline designed to sustain the game’s cross-generational appeal across personal computers, consoles, and mobile devices.

Minecraft Adds New Sift Dimension as Daily Player Count Hits 300,000

The Scale of Daily Growth

An influx of 300,000 new users daily rivals the total population of a mid-sized city discovering the game for the first time on a routine Tuesday. This continuous acquisition rate outpaces the launch-day figures of many major contemporary game releases. Accessibility underpins this sustained adoption. The Java Edition remains available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, while the Bedrock Edition spans Windows, Chromebook, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch models, iOS, Android, and Amazon Fire devices. With a base price point and an absence of mandatory subscriptions, battle passes, or expiring seasonal content, the financial and technical barriers to entry remain minimal.

The Sift and Minecraft Live 2026 Announcements

The centerpiece of the Minecraft Live announcements was the confirmation of The Sift, the game’s fourth official playable dimension. Slated for release in 2027, it joins the Overworld, Nether, and End as the first new dimension added to the Java and Bedrock editions in over 14 years. The Sift will introduce Ice Caves, a frozen biome featuring new frozen zombie variants. Additional reveals from the event included the confirmation of Minecraft Dungeons 2, scheduled for release on September 29, alongside expanded toolsets for world creators. Mojang also announced a physical Minecraft World experience opening in 2027 at the Chessington World of Adventures Resort in the United Kingdom, featuring themed hotel rooms and a roller coaster.
