Indonesia Aims to Stop Diesel Imports by 2026
JAKARTA,KOMPAS.com – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia reiterated the government’s plan to no longer import diesel fuel (BBM) starting in 2026.
Bahlil said that this target could be achieved if the Refinery advancement Master Plan (RDMP) project in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, was operational and able to meet domestic diesel needs.

According to Bahlil, diesel imports will only be carried out if domestic supplies are insufficient. However,if domestic production is ready,imports are not necessary.
“But it depends on Pertamina. If, let’s say, we can only achieve this in March, that means January and February may require a small amount, perhaps we can account for that. But I am also accounting for possibilities. But if, for example, in January or February, we don’t need to import, than we shouldn’t. Why import? but if there is a need, we must acknowledge that we are not ready, and it’s better to be honest about that,” said Bahlil.
