Missouri State’s Roemer Earns MVC Freshman of the Year, NCAA Championships Bid

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State freshman Kiefer Roemer has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke. He was also named the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Freshman of the Year after leading the Missouri State men’s swimming and diving team to its 22nd MVC title .

Record-Breaking Performance

Roemer secured his NCAA ticket by winning gold in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship with a time of 52.56. This performance set a new MVC record and is the second-fastest time in Missouri State school history .

Head coach Dave Collins expressed excitement about Roemer’s achievement, stating, “We are exceptionally excited for Kiefer and our program to be represented at the NCAA championships. He has been very consistent and locked in from day one so to see him get this opportunity is a great way to wrap up the season.”
