MLB The Show 26 Launches 2026 Topps Update Series Programs
MLB The Show 26 introduced the 2026 Topps Update Series Baseball Programs, bringing real-world card designs and 99 OVR player rewards to Diamond Dynasty across three distinct themed releases. Inspired by physical Topps card distributions, the content drop features the Autumn Ascensions, Black Gold, and Heavy Lumber programs alongside an elusive Bobby Witt Jr. player card hidden within standard Show packs.
Autumn Ascensions Program Features Young MLB Stars
The Autumn Ascensions program centers on fall-themed card designs dedicated to rising major league talent and top prospects. Among the featured players receiving 99 OVR cards are Trey Yesavage, SP for the Toronto Blue Jays; JJ Wetherholt, second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals; Konnor Griffin, shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates; and Julio Rodriguez, center fielder for the Seattle Mariners, according to theshow.com. Showzone.gg noted that Rodriguez serves as the veteran presence of the group at 25 years old.
Black Gold Program Highlights Skenes and Top Prospects
The Black Gold program recreates nostalgic card aesthetics that invoke memories of peelable label pack inserts. Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes headlines the program as the final reward with a 99 OVR rating, accompanied by Samuel Basallo, catcher for the Baltimore Orioles; Chase Burns, starting pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds; and Kevin McGonigle, shortstop for the Detroit Tigers, theshow.com reported. Showzone.gg observed that while Skenes boasts a strong pitch mix and high attributes, the card lacks the Outlier quirk on its four-seam fastball, presenting a test for how much velocity traits impact online competitive play.
Heavy Lumber Program Adds Hall of Famers and Sluggers
Power hitters dominate the Heavy Lumber program, which introduces 99 OVR variants for legendary bats and modern sluggers alike. Hall of Famers Honus Wagner, shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Tony Gwynn, right fielder for the San Diego Padres, anchor the release alongside Sal Stewart, first baseman for the Cincinnati Reds, and Bryce Eldridge, first baseman for the San Francisco Giants, according to theshow.com. Showzone.gg reported that Gwynn’s card features maxed-out Contact and Clutch attributes alongside diamond fielding at secondary positions, while Wagner secures his second 99 OVR item of the game cycle.
Bobby Witt Jr. Chase Card and Physical Card Releases
Players can acquire an exclusive 99 OVR Bobby Witt Jr. shortstop card by opening standard The Show Packs or by earning up to 36 packs through the completion of the Autumn Ascensions, Black Gold, and Heavy Lumber programs, theshow.com reported. Showzone.gg noted that unlike traditional Chase cards locked behind exclusive purchases, Witt appears as a standard pack pull but commands a marketplace value of 1,000,000 Stubs due to his status as the number three meta overall shortstop. For physical collectors, the physical 2026 Topps Update Series launched alongside the digital integration, offering standard value boxes containing six packs and 72 total cards, alongside Fanatics exclusive boxes featuring eight packs and 96 total cards releasing on October 28, 2026.
