Following her triumphant performance at the Viña del Mar Festival, Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte has released her first “Spotify Session.” Recorded entirely in Mexico, the session reimagines five tracks from her latest album, Femme Fatale, with a unique jazz ensemble comprised entirely of women, directed by Mexican filmmaker Magaly Ugarte.
A Jazz Transformation of ‘Femme Fatale’
The Spotify Session features renditions of “Femme Fatale,” “Veracruz,” “1:30,” “Melancholia,” and “Another Night of Crying,” the second most-streamed song from the album on Spotify. Laferte donned a red satin dress for the occasion, enhancing the session’s sophisticated atmosphere.
“Being in this jazz universe allowed us to improvise and let the music breathe in a novel way,” Laferte stated in a press release from Spotify. “I liked it so much that I even wanted to take this band on tour.”
Upcoming Latin American Tour
This release coincides with Laferte’s planned tour across eight Latin American countries this semester. The tour will showcase the original arrangements of Femme Fatale, alongside potential surprises inspired by the jazz interpretations featured in the Spotify Session.
The session is available for streaming exclusively on Spotify Spotify.
