Longtime Montgomery Police Corporal David Hathcock Dies
Montgomery, AL – Corporal David M. Hathcock, a 20-year veteran of the Montgomery Police Department, passed away on February 22, 2026, according to a statement released by the department on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Dedicated Service Remembered
Lieutenant Tina McGriff of the Montgomery Police Department expressed the department’s grief and celebrated Corporal Hathcock’s life and dedication. “Hathcock dedicated his life to watch over the city of Montgomery and the citizens that we cherish,” McGriff stated. “On and off-duty, he honored his oath to live a life that was exemplary to all.”
McGriff further noted his courage and integrity, saying, “He was courageous, calm in the face of danger, and honest in thought and deed. Although his watch ended on February 22, 2026, his legacy will live on in us each day as we continue to serve with honor and integrity.”
Unexpected Passing and Support for Family
Details surrounding Corporal Hathcock’s death were initially limited, but a GoFundMe account established by a family friend indicated his passing was “unexpected.” The Montgomery Police Department has asked the community to keep Hathcock’s family and friends in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Corporal Hathcock joined the Montgomery Police Department in January 2006.
