The Odysseum sector in Montpellier, France, will be the site of a large-scale civil security exercise simulating an attack on the evening of Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Residents can expect to see a significant presence of police and emergency services, along with flashing lights and sirens, throughout the night. Authorities are emphasizing that this is a drill and no real threat exists.
The Hérault prefecture announced the exercise, stating it will commence at 8:30 p.m. And continue late into the night. The purpose is to test the coordination, responsiveness, and effectiveness of emergency services in a realistic scenario as reported by TripAdvisor.
Traffic Disruptions Expected
The exercise will cause disruptions to public transportation. The terminus of tram line 1 will be temporarily moved to the “Place de France” stop, and the “Odysseum” and “Gare Sud de France” stations will not be served.
