Staff, patients, and visitors heading to both The Neuro and the Montreal General Hospital must prepare for significant travel delays, rolling street closures, and limited local vehicle access throughout September and October.
The disruptions stem from a busy autumn calendar featuring major cycling competitions. According to event schedules, the avenue du Parc will see rolling closures starting September 4, leading up to the UCI Road World Championships scheduled from September 19 to 27.
Montreal Road Closures and Transit Disruptions
Traffic restrictions will fluctuate daily depending on the cycling schedules, creating complex commuting conditions across downtown Montreal. According to hospital advisories, barrier installations along the race routes will begin early each morning around 7 a.m., with streets reopening progressively after events conclude. Commuters driving to the hospital zone should anticipate heavy congestion and restricted local traffic.
- September 4 to October 4: Avenue du Parc (southbound) will be closed between des Pins Avenue and Mount Royal Avenue for site setup and teardown.
- September 9 to October 4: Avenue du Parc will be fully closed in both directions between des Pins Avenue and Mount Royal Avenue.
- September 13: The Grand Prix Cycliste will feature a circuit race looping around Mount Royal.
