MoonPay Integrates Kamino Into AI PayBox for Solana Lending via ChatGPT and Claude

MoonPay has integrated the Solana-based credit protocol Kamino into its AI-focused PayBox payment vault, allowing eligible users to supply tokens for yield or borrow against crypto collateral directly through conversations with ChatGPT or Claude. According to DefiLlama, Kamino manages a total value locked of approximately 1,3 Milliarden US-Dollar alongside 1 Milliarde US-Dollar in active loans.

How the PayBox and Kamino Integration Operates

The system does not establish a brand-new lending mechanism. According to platform details, it replaces Kamino’s standard graphical user interface with natural-language instructions executed via conversational AI. Users can direct the assistant to deposit tokens into Kamino or borrow the US dollar-pegged stablecoin USDC using deposited crypto collateral.

Users maintain strict control over execution boundaries through two primary authorization policies. Under the “always ask” setting, every individual transaction requires a fresh passkey approval. Alternatively, users can select an autonomous mode that permits the AI agent to operate within pre-set financial limits established by the account holder. Modifying those limits demands a new passkey confirmation, and access can be revoked at any time.

Security Architecture and Key Management

According to MoonPay, the infrastructure avoids asset custody via hosted wallets or platform accounts, meaning neither the AI agent nor MoonPay can sign a transaction independently. Wallet keys are split using threshold cryptography and stored securely inside hardware enclaves managed by Sodot, an infrastructure firm acquired by MoonPay on April 29, 2026. Sodot technology has previously secured over 50 Milliarden US-Dollar in transactions and protected more than 10 million wallets for clients such as eToro, BitGo, and Exodus, according to company statements.

For fiat and card rails, the platform utilizes Visa’s agentic commerce framework. This setup enables a verified agent to pass expected merchant payment details without storing raw card numbers inside the vault, generating single-use virtual cards restricted to specific merchants and exact amounts. MoonPay reports that the underlying cryptography has undergone security audits by Trail of Bits and NCC Group, ensuring compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Broader Agentic Commerce Standards

Beyond native crypto-native protocols like Kamino, PayBox utilizes the Linux Foundation standard x402 for non-crypto web services. The x402 standard leverages the standard HTTP 402 “Payment Required” response to let servers quote prices and clients pay in stablecoins without accounts or API keys. According to network dashboards, x402 processed 75,41 million transactions totaling 24,24 million US-Dollar over a recent 30-day window, averaging roughly 32 cents per transaction.
