Morehead State Beach Volleyball Splits Double Dual with Wingate

WINGATE, N.C. – The Morehead State beach volleyball team faced Wingate University in a double dual on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, resulting in a pair of 3-2 defeats for the Eagles. The matches were held at Wingate’s campus (224 E Wilson St, Wingate, NC).

Match Results

Despite winning different pairs in each match, Morehead State was unable to secure a victory against the Bulldogs. The Eagles’ record now stands at 1-5, while Wingate improved to 3-3 on the season.

First Match

In the opening match, Sydney Sennett and Landyn Snowden earned a 21-17, 14-21, 15-13 win at the No. 4 position. Addie Freed and Riley McCloskey followed with a straight-set victory (21-19, 22-20) on court five. However, the Eagles dropped the first two pairs, with Bella Marita and Sarah Heath (No. 1) and M.E. Hargan and Shea Hefner (No. 2) both falling after forcing a third set.

Cady Hatch and Lily-Kate Carver secured a win in the No. 6 exhibition match.

Second Match

The second match saw Marita/Heath and Hargan/Hefner claim victories for Morehead State. Heath and Marita rallied to win 21-14, 16-14 after dropping the first set 21-17. Hefner and Hargan topped their opponents 21-18, 21-14.

Amelia Nott and Haylee DePonte competed closely at No. 3, winning the first set 21-19 but ultimately losing 21-16, 15-12. Freed and McCloskey faced a marathon battle at No. 5, falling 24-26, 21-19, 8-15.

Next Up

Morehead State will travel to Conway, S.C., to participate in the Coastal Carolina Invitational this Friday and Saturday. They are scheduled to face South Florida, Salem (N.C.), and the host Coastal Carolina Chanticleers twice during the invitational.
