Morocco signs a clear rebound in its lemon exports during the 2024-2025 campaign, reaching their highest level in the last five seasons, according to an analysis published by EastFruit. This recovery puts an end to four consecutive years of decline and confirms the gradual return of the sector to foreign markets.

Between November 2024 and October 2025, Moroccan exports of lemons totaled approximately 9,700 tonnes for a value exceeding $5 million. This volume represents an increase of almost 80% compared to the 2023-2024 campaign, marked by a historic low of 5,300 tonnes. This is the best performance recorded since the 2010-2011 season, a year during which Morocco shipped a record 18,000 tonnes. After coming close to this level in 2019-2020 with 17,000 tonnes, shipments then decreased continuously until the previous season.

Beyond the recovery in volumes, the structure of exports is changing. While shipments traditionally peaked in February before falling sharply from April, the 2024-2025 campaign is distinguished by a more balanced distribution. The month of April recorded the highest volumes, while exports in May remained strong, a sign of better continuity of supply.

Mauritania (…) first outlet

Geographically, Mauritania consolidates its position as the leading outlet by absorbing 45 percent of exported volumes, with a fourth consecutive year of growth. The United Kingdom is in second place and exceeds the 1,000 tonne threshold for the first time in 17 years. Russia follows with 9.2 percent of shipments. The Netherlands and Canada have resumed imports, while sales to France are down 20 percent. At the same time, shipments to secondary markets have doubled, reflecting an increasing diversification of the Moroccan export portfolio.
