Motilal Oswal Launches Bond Trading Platform to Meet Rising Investor Demand

Mumbai, March 10, 2026 – Motilal Oswal Financial Services’ wealth management arm has launched a digital bond trading platform, the Bond Provider Platform, designed to broaden investor access to fixed income securities. The platform will enable investors to trade in government securities, PSU bonds and corporate bonds through a dedicated digital interface.

Growing Demand for Fixed Income Investments

The launch comes as the Indian bond market continues to expand and investors increasingly seek predictable returns and capital preservation alongside equity investments. According to a company release, India’s bond market has grown to nearly USD 3 trillion, making it the third-largest in Asia, after Japan and China, and equivalent to roughly 100-110% of India’s GDP.

Platform Features and Benefits

The Bond Provider Platform offers investors a streamlined way to invest in a variety of bond types. This includes:

  • Government Securities: Bonds issued by the Indian government.
  • PSU Bonds: Bonds issued by Public Sector Undertakings.
  • Corporate Bonds: Bonds issued by private companies.

Market Trends Driving the Launch

Ajay Menon, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, stated that increasing allocation of household savings to financial assets, coupled with the expected inclusion of Indian government bonds in global indices, is making the fixed income opportunity more compelling. The platform’s introduction also coincides with a period of heightened geopolitical tensions and global market uncertainty, which has increased volatility in equity markets. This has prompted investors, particularly high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), to seek increased capital protection, predictable income streams, and portfolio stability. Ashish Malaviya, Head of Distribution at Motilal Oswal Wealth Management, noted the growing demand for these features among investors. Source
