Michigan State Men’s Tennis Faces Penn State and No. 1 Ohio State in Big Ten Road Trip

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Michigan State men’s tennis team is set to begin its first Big Ten Conference road trip this weekend, starting with a match against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday, March 13, at 2 p.m. ET. Following the match in University Park, the Spartans will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on the No. 1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday.

Spartans Aim for Continued Success

Coming off a strong weekend at home, Michigan State looks to secure another conference victory. The Spartans recently defeated two ranked opponents and currently hold a No. 46 ranking heading into the weekend’s matches.[1] Michigan State has won its last two matches aiming to extend that streak with momentum from their recent home performance.

Key to Success: Doubles Play

A key factor in the Spartans’ recent success has been winning the doubles point and carrying that momentum into singles play.[1]

Series History

Michigan State holds a 3-11 record on the road and a 6-6 record at home against Penn State, including a 4-3 victory in last year’s meeting.[1] The Spartans are currently on a three-match winning streak against the Nittany Lions.

Looking Ahead

Following the matches against Penn State and Ohio State, Michigan State will continue its Big Ten schedule, seeking to build on its recent successes and climb the conference standings.
