  • Lawyer: this defense is absurd
  • Investigators are looking for who uploaded the videos to the Internet
  • One by one, the photos disappear from the sites

Dozens of canceled hours are reported by beauty salons in Burgas after the scandal with the leaked nude photos of female clients on porn sites, which broke out a week ago.

“We have refusals not only for laser hair removal, but also for other procedures,

for which no undressing is required,” they say cosmetically.

160 women complained that they saw themselves naked on the Internet after going for hair removal in two salons in Burgas – one in the center and the other in the “Meden Rudnik” quarter. There they were filmed by cameras without being notified.

In this case, an investigation by the prosecutor’s office and the police in Burgas began, which led to revelations about unscrupulous salons in other cities such as Kazanlak and Aheloy.
All the women who reported to the police had been seen by acquaintances or had seen themselves naked on porn sites while undergoing hair removal procedures. Most of the photos are from the laser hair removal rooms where they had to strip naked.

For some videos, women claim they are uploaded online while the procedure itself is going on. Access to these sites was for a fee of 30 euros. It is clear that in some cases the camera was unscrupulously directed at the private parts of the women. Similar videos have been made since 2020.

As their justification, the owners of the salons explain that the cameras were installed for security reasons, especially against theft, and the women signed that they were informed about them in advance.

However, none of them suspected that they were recording her and then the naked footage was uploaded to porn sites

Among the affected customers there are people of different ages and social positions. The youngest client is a 15-year-old girl. Among those filmed are prosecutors, policemen, judges, journalists, an employee of the National Revenue Agency, daughters of a former regional governor and representatives from show business.

According to the investigators, despite the indisputable facts of cheating and humiliating the customers, the two centers in Burgas – “Tiffany” and “Infiniti” – do not need to be closed for the time being. Unlike “Infiniti”, which closed after the police action, “Tiffany” did not stop work and accepts customers. Its owner even issued an appeal on the Internet to her customers not to believe yellow news.

As her justification for not knowing about the nude photos on the porn sites, she explained that she herself had become a victim of hackers, as a clip of her in an intimate position was also leaked online.

According to the district prosecutor Maria Markova

the task of the investigators is to find out who sent the pictures on the sites

and whether there is a connection between the two salons. So far, there are no answers to these questions.
“In qualified cases, the punishment can reach up to two years of imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 to 3,000 BGN. If it concerns photos of persons under 16 years of age, the criminal responsibility is correspondingly greater,” says prosecutor Markova.

“There is neither legal nor life logic to give informed consent for recording with a hidden camera of undressing and naked people. What is advocated as a defense thesis in the public space is absurd”, lawyer Rosen Diev commented on the case of the two salons in Burgas, whose owners claim that their customers were informed about the cameras.

“The law on the protection of personal data is the other normative act that guarantees the inviolability of personal data. There is a European regulation on the protection of personal data, there is a text in the Constitution of Bulgaria, there are texts in the Criminal Code, the violation of which is elevated to a crime,” explains lawyer Diev, whom the victimized women hired.

Lawyers even go so far as to suggest that beauty parlors may be just a front for a large-scale operation to distribute pornographic images.

“I assume that these clips of various people have been viewed tens or hundreds of thousands of times. And everyone can do the basic math, if they were paid 30 euros – what sums are involved from this illegal activity, which the guilty persons have accumulated”, the lawyer points out.

However, according to the investigators, they have not yet been found. That is why it is not necessary to close the beauty salons in Burgas due to the lack of sufficient evidence that those working in them are guilty of spreading the nude photos with their clients.

“I cannot commit to the conclusion of the guilt of the persons who work in these salons, the prosecutor’s office does not have the competence to limit the services provided in a given salon, the investigating police authorities and the supervising prosecutor have decided that they do not need to be sealed in order to collect evidence or to be restricted as work”, says the spokesman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Burgas Shtelian Dimitrov.

Devices, disks, telephones, computer configurations were seized during the actions in the two salons in Burgas. It is being checked who had access to the videos and if found, it could be a potential culprit behind the spread of the nude photos. For now, however, investigators rule out a connection between the two salons.

In Burgas, no charges have yet been filed, nor have people from the two studios been suspected. The reassuring thing for the victims is that, after the intervention of the authorities, their nude photos have been removed from the porn sites. Did this happen?

thanks to Interpol and the FBI, whose help the investigators sought,

it is not clear, but it is a fact that international pornography sites can no longer be accessed from Bulgaria.

There are 160 complaints filed by women against beauty salons in Burgas and they are constantly increasing. For 120 women, most of the porn sites have hidden from their platforms the nude photos of the women who filed reports against the two studios in Burgas.

“We have achieved success in several countries, we are in constant contact with their services and we can really boast of success,” says the head of the Economic Police in the city, Chief Commissioner Asen Fortunov.
