nanooks Hockey Earns Exhibition win Over Grand Canyon
FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team secured a 4-2 exhibition victory on Saturday, December 6th, at home against the Grand Canyon Lopes.This marked the final home game for the Nanooks in 2025.
How it Happened
Grand Canyon took an early lead, scoring just 3:51 into the first period. Michael Schwartz found the back of the net with an assist from Gabe Tritschler. Though, the lead didn’t last long. Cade Ahrenholz evened the score at 5:48 of the first, assisted by Trent Penner. Just 2:20 later, Jhett Larson scored to give the Nanooks a 2-1 advantage. They extended their lead to 3-1 on Fyodor Nikolayenya’s goal at 10:32 of the first period.
The lopes narrowed the gap in the second period, but the Nanooks responded. Alaska sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the third, finishing the game with a 4-2 score. The Nanooks outshot the Lopes 34-24.
