Collier Cleared for Storm Showdown
Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier is listed as “probable” for Wednesday’s matchup against the Seattle Storm. The designation signals a major milestone in her recovery, as the forward has yet to appear in a game during the 2026 WNBA season following offseason surgery on both ankles.
A Long Road Back from Surgery
Collier’s path to the court began after injuries plagued her during the 2025 campaign, including setbacks sustained during the regular season and the playoffs against the Phoenix Mercury. Once the season concluded, she underwent surgical procedures on both ankles to correct the damage.
During a media session on Saturday, Collier discussed the mental toll of her rehabilitation. “I can’t control that I was injured, but I can control my mindset now,” she said. She added that she has prioritized supporting her teammates while navigating the physical demands of her recovery.
Miles Keeps the Lynx Rolling
Even without their star, the Lynx have thrived. The team enters Wednesday’s contest boasting a 21-6 record and a six-game winning streak. Much of that success rests on the shoulders of rookie Olivia Miles. Averaging 19.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6 assists per game, Miles has solidified the backcourt.
Coach Cheryl Reeve praised the rookie for providing the roster with a true point guard. Reeve expects Miles’ playmaking abilities to integrate seamlessly with Collier’s skill set once the veteran returns to the floor.
Final Push Before the Break
Wednesday’s game against the Seattle Storm is the final hurdle for the Lynx before the WNBA All-Star break, which runs from July 23 to July 27. The two teams are familiar foes, having met as recently as Monday in a contest the Lynx won 105-102.
For Collier, a former UConn standout and the 2019 WNBA Rookie of the Year, the return is aimed at bolstering a roster with championship ambitions. The Lynx, who reached the WNBA Finals in 2024 and have secured four titles in franchise history, are currently viewed as contenders for the 2026 crown. The game tips off at 3 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on WNBA League Pass.
