Natalie Wildgoose Announces New EP ‘Rural Hours’ and Shares “River Days”

Yorkshire-based folk artist Natalie Wildgoose has signed with state51 distribution and is set to release her new EP, Rural Hours, on April 15th. The announcement comes with the release of her latest single, “River Days,” a gorgeously understated track rooted in a day spent by the river with her partner.

A Day by the River, Captured in Song

“This song is a record of a single day, written that same evening, capturing the events and feelings of an early-summer day when Matt and I spent every hour by the river,” Wildgoose shared in a press release. “We lit fires and made black coffee in the naturally worn rockpools of the stone, in the evening we cooked fresh trout and lay in the grass beds where the deer had slept the night before.”

The song’s genesis is deeply personal, reflecting a moment of connection with nature and a loved one. Wildgoose continues, “I fell asleep to the sounds of the waterfalls we had stumbled across on our wanderings, and then later, in the shower, I noticed my shoulders were burned, not badly, just a small sting. Proof I had lived a little, but that would fade in a week.”

Building a Distinctive Sound

Wildgoose has been steadily gaining recognition for her stripped-back approach and honest songwriting. Her 2023 debut album, CEREBRUM, and the 2025 EP, Arrive Into The Garden, have established her as a compelling voice in the contemporary folk scene. She often records in rural spaces, favoring analogue methods and drawing inspiration from family, landscape, loss, and memory.
