North Dakota State Advances to Summit League Semifinals, Faces Oral Roberts or St. Thomas

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team secured a dominant 87-37 victory over Omaha in the quarterfinal round of the Summit League Tournament on Thursday, March 6, 2026, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The Bison (27-3, 15-1 Summit) will advance to the semifinal round, where they will face either fourth-seeded Oral Roberts or fifth-seeded St. Thomas on Friday at 12:00 p.m. CT.

Bison Dominate on Both Ends

Marisa Frost led all scorers with a game-high 28 points, shooting 11-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range. This performance marked the second-most points scored by a Bison player in the Summit League Tournament, trailing only Brooke LeMar’s 29 points against Oral Roberts in 2015.

Avery Koenen contributed 23 points on an efficient 10-of-11 shooting performance, adding seven rebounds. Koenen’s scoring total for the season now stands at 581 points, the most in the NDSU Division I era and seventh overall in Bison history. Karrington Asp, making her first career start, added 11 points with eight rebounds, although Abby Graham provided 10 points off the bench.

NDSU shot 50.8 percent (33-65) from the field and 75.0 percent (15-20) from the free throw line, with seven players contributing to the scoring effort. The team’s 87 points and 33 field goals set new Summit League Tournament records for the Bison.

North Dakota State quickly established control, opening with a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. The Bison extended their advantage in the second quarter, scoring seven consecutive points, including five from Frost, to lead 28-13 with five minutes remaining in the half. NDSU maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, ultimately securing the 87-37 victory.
