City of Austin Launches Redesigned Website on March 19, 2026
The City of Austin will launch a recent, modernized website – AustinTexas.gov – on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 8 a.m. The redesign aims to improve user experience and provide easier access to city information and services.
Improved Functionality and Design
Visitors to the new AustinTexas.gov will experience a cleaner page structure, more intuitive navigation, and enhanced search capabilities. The website is also fully responsive, ensuring optimal viewing on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. The new platform supports a consistent style across all city departments while maintaining high accessibility standards for all Austinites.
City Manager Highlights Benefits
“The launch of the new and improved AustinTexas.Gov has been a long time coming, and I am proud to say that the City of Austin website is now the most efficient place to connect Austinites with the information and resources they necessitate,” said City Manager T.C. Broadnax. “We have worked hard to make everything on the site easier to find and navigate – whether that’s adopting your next pet, viewing your recycling schedule or paying your utility bill.”
Enhanced Search Capabilities
AustinTexas.gov has updated its search functions with filtering options and improved indexing to deliver more accurate results for users seeking specific programs, services, or departmental information.
Community Input Incorporated
The new website’s features and user experience were guided by feedback gathered from the community during the initial planning phases. The City of Austin will continue to solicit feedback through a short survey available on the site following the launch, allowing for ongoing improvements and enhancements.
Transition and Contingency Plan
While a smooth transition is anticipated, the website will revert to the current site if any issues arise during the switch to allow for quick resolution.
