Jacques-Puel de Bourran Hospital Center Expands Ophthalmology Services in Rodez, France
From April 2, 2026, the Jacques-Puel de Bourran hospital center in Rodez, France, will enhance its healthcare offerings with the introduction of a specialized ophthalmology unit. This expansion aims to provide hospital-based care for specific ophthalmological conditions requiring structured monitoring within a hospital department, thereby completing the regional healthcare landscape.
Targeted Patient Care
The new service will primarily focus on patients aged 50 and over, as well as younger individuals requiring treatment for the following conditions: glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), ophthalmological follow-up for diabetes, high myopia (exceeding –6 diopters), cataract surgery evaluations and functional eyelid surgery (excluding cosmetic procedures) for small cancerous lesions, ectropion, entropion, and dermatochalasis. Pterygium evaluations for eyelid surgery will similarly be included.
Consultations will be conducted by Doctors Nada and Aida Adrira at 5 rue de Copenhagen, in Bourran, on the ground floor of the Le Médicis residence (building B).
Emergency and Surgical Services
Beginning in May, the ophthalmology unit will also offer surgical procedures, including cataract surgery and functional eyelid surgery. The practitioners will also provide emergency ophthalmological care for patients referred by the SAMU 15 emergency medical service. Pediatric care will not be available for children under 8 years of age within this unit.
