Jose E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones have officially completed their purchase of the San Diego Padres, according to NBC San Diego. The new co-owners finalized the acquisition on a Friday night before addressing the media in an introductory press conference.

San Diego Padres New Owners Outline Championship Goals

Entering their first official press conference to a high-energy dance track titled “We All In” by co-owner Kwanza Jones, the leadership duo laid out ambitious competitive expectations for the team. According to NBC San Diego, Jones stated her goal for the franchise plainly: “We gonna win. We gonna win! We gonna win it all!” Feliciano echoed those sentiments, noting his lifelong fandom and declaring that the organization’s immediate target is a World Series title.

The transaction includes an estimated $1.7 billion contributed personally by Feliciano and Jones. Following the transaction’s close, the team swept the Minnesota Twins in front of crowds exceeding 40,000 attendees each night at Petco Park, according to NBC San Diego reporting.

Payroll Strategy and Community Commitment

Addressing future roster construction and financial investment, Feliciano told NBC San Diego that spending will fluctuate year-to-year based on the shifting landscape of Major League Baseball and team performance. However, the co-owners pledged to remain aggressive with player acquisitions when optimal windows open, utilizing local fan support to reinvest directly into the roster and stadium infrastructure.

“We have been blessed with a team in a city that is supporting us in a way that is allowing us to invest back in that team, in the stadium, in that city, and we’re committed to doing that,” Feliciano said, as reported by NBC San Diego. Both owners emphasized maintaining the long-term health of the organization while keeping fan engagement central to their operational model.

Honoring the Legacy of Peter Seidler

Feliciano and Jones dedicated a portion of their opening remarks to recognizing the impact of the late Peter Seidler, whose prior ownership tenure shaped the franchise’s modern culture. According to NBC San Diego, the new owners stated their firm intention to carry on Seidler’s community-focused legacy.

“We understand that sports is much more than sports,” Feliciano told NBC San Diego. “Sports is just much more than the business. Sports is an integral part of the community.”

To symbolize their new roles, both owners donned Padres jerseys at the conclusion of the media session. Feliciano selected the number 21 to honor fellow Puerto Rico native Roberto Clemente, while Jones selected double zero to signify that the organization operates with “zero limits and there are infinite possibilities,” according to NBC San Diego.
