Saturday night saw three Slovak hockey players make their mark in the National Hockey League (NHL), with notable performances from Martin Fehérváry, Šimon Nemec, and Martin Pospíšil. While none of the players registered a point in the traditional sense, their contributions were significant in their respective team’s outcomes.

Capitals Edge Devils in Slovak Defenseman Clash

The Washington Capitals secured a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils, a game highlighted by the head-to-head matchup between Slovak defensemen Martin Fehérváry and Šimon Nemec. Fehérváry finished the game with a plus-one rating, playing a key role in the Capitals’ defensive effort over 21 minutes of ice time. He similarly recorded a shot and two hits. Pospíšil earned a plus-one rating, delivering five hits – tied for the most in the game – and demonstrating his physical presence. Goals from Farabee, Olofsson, Frost, and Coronato propelled the Flames to victory.

Avalanche Secure Playoff Berth

The Colorado Avalanche clinched a playoff spot with a dominant 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Nathan MacKinnon led the charge with three assists, bringing his season point total to 111, just three behind Nikita Kucherov and four behind Connor McDavid in the race for the Art Ross Trophy. The Avalanche outshot the Blackhawks 49-20.
