Nicla Ozenda Leaves La Ruota della Fortuna for Vocal Cyst Surgery
Nicla Ozenda, the lead singer of the house band on Canale 5 game show La Ruota della Fortuna, announced on the Monday, October 19 broadcast that she must temporarily leave the program to undergo surgery for a vocal cord cyst. The sudden announcement moved host Gerry Scotti to tears as Ozenda explained that the medical procedure is necessary to preserve her singing voice and long-term health. The departure follows earlier vocal cord complications that Ozenda faced earlier in the year.
The On-Air Announcement and Gerry Scotti Reaction
During the October 19 episode, host Gerry Scotti handed the floor to Ozenda so she could address the studio audience and viewers directly. Following a performance of the song “True Colors” with the band Fortuna Five, Ozenda spoke with tears in her eyes about her diagnosis, as reported by corriereadriatico.it. She confirmed that a new medical examination revealed a cyst inside one of her vocal cords, forcing her to step away from the daily television schedule for a few months of mandatory rest.
“It is very difficult because you are a family for me,” Ozenda told the audience, adding that she is confident she will return to the program stronger than before. Scotti did not hide his emotion during the segment, shedding tears and offering words of support to the singer. Scotti stated that while stepping away is difficult, the procedure is essential for her to return to her passion, emphasizing that “these are things of life,” according to corriereadriatico.it reporting.
Social Media Backlash and Silent Battles
Following the broadcast, Ozenda addressed the online criticism she received during her months of vocal recovery. She explained via social media that the public can now better understand the challenges she was facing while performing through physical pain and vocal strain.
She used the moment to appeal to social media users, reminding the public that behind every television personality is a private individual who may be fighting unseen health battles. Earlier in the year, when addressing the initial vocal hemorrhage that altered her singing voice, Ozenda noted how deeply harsh online commentary had hurt her while she was working hard to recover.
Recovery Timeline and Expected Return
Ozenda will spend the coming months recovering from the vocal cord surgery and resting her voice. Nicla Ozenda ha annunciato l’intenzione di riprendere il suo ruolo con i Fortuna Five a La Ruota della Fortuna. The exact date of her return to the Canale 5 studio remains dependent on the success of the surgical procedure and subsequent rehabilitation.
