This statement comes in response to circulating speculative and inaccurate figures in some media outlets.
Following the confirmation of the initial two cases, the government swiftly implemented thorough public health measures, adhering to established protocols. A thorough contact tracing effort identified 196 individuals linked to the confirmed cases.These contacts were meticulously monitored and tested for the virus, with all tests returning negative results.
As of today, no additional cases of Nipah Virus Disease have been detected in West Bengal.The situation remains under constant surveillance, and all necessary public health precautions are currently in place. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare strongly advises the public and media to rely solely on verified information released by official sources, discouraging the spread of unverified or speculative reports.
