Northern Illinois University Gymnastics Wraps Regular Season at Minnesota Quad

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Northern Illinois University gymnastics team concluded its regular season on Sunday afternoon at the Minnesota Quad, competing against Illinois, Iowa, and host Minnesota. The Huskies finished with a team score of 191.400.

The Gophers secured first place in the meet with a team score of 197.825, followed by Iowa, Illinois, and NIU.

Harbeck Competes All-Around for the First Time

Senior Jocelyn Harbeck (Frankfort, Ill. / Lincoln-Way East) competed as an all-arounder for the first time in her collegiate career, achieving a total score of 38.550.

“Jocelyn completed all-around today and I’m so proud of her hard work and perseverance,” said head coach Nita Teague. “To end your college career with your first all-around performance is impressive.”

Harbeck recorded a 9.725 on both vault and beam, a 9.600 on floor, and a 9.500 on bars. She similarly tied a career-high score on beam.

Strong Performances on Vault

Junior Dawsyn Sallee (Versailles, Ky. / Woodford County High) led the Huskies on vault with a score of 9.775, maintaining a streak of scoring 9.700 or higher on the event throughout the season. Sophomore Audrey Brenner (Fond du Lac, Wis. / Fond du Lac) also achieved a team-high 9.775 on vault.

Solid Scores on Floor

Senior Samantha Nickle (Yorktown, Va. / York) and sophomore Drake White (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) each earned a 9.725 on floor.

Rotation Highlights

• Rotation One – Floor: NIU scored 47.775, led by Sallee’s 9.675 and followed by Harbeck’s 9.600. Nickle and White both contributed with scores of 9.725.
• Rotation Two – Vault: The Huskies achieved their highest event score of the day with 48.500. Brenner and Sallee led with 9.775 each, closely followed by Harbeck’s 9.725. Freshman Syvanna Navarro (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) made her collegiate debut, scoring a 9.350 as the anchor.
• Rotation Three – Bars: Freshman Makenna Brooks (Kokomo, Ind. / Eastern) led NIU on bars for the first time this season with a 9.650. Sophomore Maria King (Nashville, Tenn. / Currey Ingram Academy) followed with a 9.575.
• Rotation Four – Beam: Harbeck tied her career-high on beam with a 9.725, while Nickle and Sallee each added a 9.625.

NIU will compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday, March 21.
