NJPW’s G1 Climax 36 to Feature All-Tournament Format in Chicago

Fresh Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) has announced that the upcoming G1 Climax 36 tournament event in Chicago, Illinois, will consist entirely of tournament matches. The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates.

Tournament Format Details

Unlike some recent NJPW tournament cards, this event will not include any multi-person tag team matches. NJPW has not yet disclosed the total number of matches planned for the show or the full list of participants in this year’s G1 Climax 36 tournament (NJPW1972.com).

Ticket Information

Tickets for the G1 Climax 36 event will head on sale to the general public on Saturday, with a pre-sale available on Friday. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and SeatGeek.

Road to Sakura Genesis and Beyond

The announcement comes as NJPW prepares for the semifinals and finals of the New Japan Cup 2026 this Friday, and Saturday. Following these matches, NJPW will embark on the Road to Sakura Genesis tour, culminating in the Sakura Genesis event on Saturday, April 4, at Ryogoku Sumo Hall. The Road to Wrestling Dontaku tour will begin on April 19, leading to Wrestling Dontaku on May 3 and May 4 in Fukuoka.
