Cat Power revealed, on Instagram, having refused a million-dollar offer from a major label for her third album, “What Would the Community Think”published in 1996.
“Nobody knows I turned down a million dollars for this record. It’s called ‘integrity'”pointed.
The publication includes a photograph of Cat Power, taken in the 90s by Paul Anson. “It was next to the house he shared with good people. We were on our way to, or returning from, who knows what. Some were still alive.”
“I ate potatoes and rice, I couldn’t get a job. All I wanted was to work with children,” he continued. “The day before I moved back to New York, I did it. I only had 10th grade, but I went to several interviews. I’m as stubborn as a gorilla.”
The singer and songwriter, about to go on tour, left one last note after this trip down memory lane: “I miss playing with feedback”. In June last year he performed in Portugal at the Jardins do Marquês festival, in Oeiras.
