Former staff members described instances of physical assault, including being punched in the face during service and being jabbed with kitchen implements. Some reported suffering intense panic attacks as a result of the work environment. CNN reported that the allegations spanned from 2009 to 2017.

Redzepi announced his resignation on Instagram on Thursday, stating, “I seize responsibility for my own actions.” He acknowledged previous struggles with aggression but recognized that an apology was insufficient to repair the past. He also announced his resignation from the board of MAD, a non-profit organization he founded in 2011.
