Two Men Arrested in Violent Pitt County Home Invasion, ICE Detainers Issued

Greenville, NC – February 16, 2026 – Two men are in custody following a violent home invasion in Greenville, North Carolina, earlier this month. Jonathan David Garcia-Larios, 20, and Zaid Mayen, 21, have been charged with multiple felonies in connection with the February 11th incident in the Cherry Oaks neighborhood.

Details of the Home Invasion

Pitt County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported assault at 200 Louis Street at approximately 3:16 a.m. On February 11, 2026. Upon arrival, deputies determined the incident was a home invasion. Authorities have described the attack as a targeted crime, not a random act of violence.

The suspects are accused of first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree forcible sex offense, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. The victim was transported to Eastern Carolina University Medical Center with injuries and has survived.

Arrests and Immigration Status

Jonathan David Garcia-Larios was arrested on February 13, 2026, and Zaid Mayen was arrested on February 13, 2026. Evidence related to the home invasion was recovered at an apartment located at 1105 W. N.C. 54 Bypass, Apt. S7 in Chapel Hill, roughly two hours from the crime scene.

Both Garcia-Larios and Mayen have been determined to be in the United States illegally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued detainers for both men. Garcia-Larios was previously removed from the country in 2024 and illegally re-entered.

Jail records indicate Garcia-Larios was initially homeless and from Frankland, N.C., but listed an address in Virginia Beach. Mayen is from Chapel Hill.

Ongoing Investigation

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident. Authorities have stated they are limited in what information they can release at this time.
