North West, 13, Reveals Desire to Work at Starbucks for a ‘Regular Job

The young artist, who recently released her debut six-track EP N0rth4evr in May, discussed her desire to step outside the celebrity spotlight for everyday adolescent experiences. According to USA Today, North stated during her interview that she wants to work a standard entry-level position. “I still wanna work. I wanna work at Starbucks next year. I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14,” she said, as reported by USA Today. “I want to have a regular job, I guess.”

Kim Kardashian later expanded on her eldest daughter’s career aspirations during an interview with The Independent, noting that despite having access to global travel and executive business environments, North consistently seeks out ordinary routines. She wants a normal job, to do normal things, and just hang out like a regular kid.”

Balancing Music Careers and Teenage Normalcy

The desire for a retail job contrasts with North’s active schedule in the music industry. Throughout 2026, North has performed at several high-profile events, including a joint appearance with her father Ye in April, a set at Rolling Loud in May alongside rapper Molly Santana, and her first solo festival performance at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash Festival in Chicago in June, according to USA Today.

Her musical catalog also features collaborations with prominent artists. According to USA Today, North appeared on the Vultures track “Talking” alongside her father and Ty Dolla $ign, contributed to FKA Twigs’ 2025 song “Childlike Things,” and teamed up with Lil Novi on the June track “Mula Tha Root of All Evil.” She also dropped her solo single debut, “Piercing On My Hand,” in February, followed by a dark music video for the emotional song “Aishite” released after the cancellation of her 14-city Kimokawaii Tour with Santana.

Personal Style and Parental Boundaries

Alongside her musical pursuits, North has cultivated a distinct visual identity centered around electric blue hair, piercings, and a goth aesthetic. According to USA Today, she explained that piercings help individuals express their full selves. However, Kardashian and Ye maintain boundaries regarding her appearance. “I really want to get my bridge pierced, but I’m not allowed,” North told Dazed, according to USA Today.

While her parents navigate her growing presence in the entertainment industry—dismissing the idea of delaying her career as the worst advice she has ever received—North maintains that performing is her primary passion. Whether she transitions from the recording studio to behind the coffee counter next year, her focus remains split between her creative projects and a straightforward teenage wish for normalcy.
