Multiple People Hospitalized After Stabbing in North York Home

Toronto, ON – A family dispute escalated into a violent altercation in North York on Monday night, leaving five adults hospitalized, including two in critical condition. Police responded to a call at a residence on Plum Tree Way, near Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West, shortly before 10 p.m. On February 16, 2026.

Details of the Incident

According to Toronto Police, officers arrived at the scene to find four family members suffering from injuries sustained during a physical altercation involving a knife. Two males, aged 23 and 26, sustained serious stab wounds and remain in critical condition as of Tuesday morning CP24. Two females, aged 29 and 51, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect in Custody

A 53-year-old Toronto man, also a member of the family, was arrested at the scene and is facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm CP24. Police are withholding the accused’s name to protect the identities of the victims.

Community Reaction

The incident has shocked residents of the North York neighborhood. Ward 6 Coun. James Pasternak, representing the area, stated the community is understandably alarmed, describing the event as a “tragic incident” that “sends shockwaves throughout the community” CP24. Neighbors reported the family had lived in the home for over a decade and some recalled hearing screaming before emergency crews arrived.

Police have stated they are not currently searching for any additional suspects CP24. The investigation is ongoing.
