Great Northwest Day to Advocate for Regional Issues in Jefferson City
Over 250 citizens, business leaders, educators, and government officials from Northwest Missouri will gather in Jefferson City from Febuary 3rd to 4th for teh 2026 Great Northwest Day. The event focuses on informing legislators about key regional concerns and promoting the interests of Northwest missouri.
Joe Hegeman, chair of great Northwest Day, emphasized the event’s collaborative approach, stating it allows leaders to present a unified voice on important community issues – a strategy proven effective over the years.
The two-day agenda includes introductions on the House and Senate floors and panel discussions addressing regional priorities.A reception will be held to facilitate networking between attendees, legislators, and department officials, alongside the presentation of the Northwest Missouri Citizen of the Year award.
Key discussion topics for 2026 include expanding rural healthcare access, increasing childcare availability, investing in higher and K-12 education, expanding workforce housing options, and pursuing enduring tax reform.
