Nscale Secures $2 Billion in Series C Funding, Valuing AI Infrastructure Firm at $14.6 Billion
London, UK – March 9, 2026 – Nscale, a U.K.-based AI infrastructure hyperscaler, today announced the completion of a $2 billion Series C funding round, the largest in European history. The funding values the company at $14.6 billion and will be used to accelerate the global deployment of AI infrastructure.
Funding Details and Investors
The Series C round was led by Aker ASA and 8090 Industries, with participation from Astra Capital Management, Citadel, Dell, Jane Street, Lenovo, Linden Advisors, Nokia, NVIDIA, and Point72 . This substantial investment underscores the growing demand for robust AI infrastructure and Nscale’s position as a key player in the field.
Nscale’s Focus: Vertically Integrated AI Infrastructure
Nscale specializes in developing vertically integrated AI infrastructure, encompassing GPU compute, networking, data services, and orchestration software. The company aims to address a critical bottleneck in the AI market: the ability to reliably deploy and scale AI capacity. According to Nscale CEO and Founder Josh Payne, “The constraint on market scaling is not demand, but the ability to deploy capacity and run it reliably in production.”
Novel Board Members
Adding to its leadership, Nscale announced the appointment of Sheryl Sandberg, former Chief Operating Officer of Meta, and Nick Clegg, a former British politician and as well previously with Meta, to its Board of Directors. This brings significant experience and expertise to the company as it navigates rapid growth.
Addressing the AI Infrastructure Boom
The investment comes amidst a surge in demand for AI infrastructure, driven by the increasing integration of artificial intelligence across various industries. Nscale was originally spun out of Arkon Energy, an Australian provider of bitcoin mining facilities, in 2024. The company recently secured a contract worth up to $14 billion with Microsoft to build a large AI data center in Texas, following a $1.1 billion financing round in September.
Looking Ahead
Nscale plans to leverage the new funding to expand its infrastructure footprint across Europe, North America, and Asia, as well as to bolster its engineering and operations teams. Payne stated, “This is the fourth industrial revolution…Over the next 5 years, Artificial Intelligence will be integrated into every industry, every product, and every job.” The company’s focus remains on delivering production-grade AI deployments at scale, positioning it as a critical enabler of the ongoing AI revolution.
