A tragic accident on the New York State Thruway claimed the lives of a driver and his dog on Monday evening. The incident occurred on Interstate 90 West in the vicinity of Albany, New York.

According to New york State Police, David R.Hall, 46, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was driving westbound on I-90 when his SUV collided with the rear of a flatbed tractor-trailer that was stopped on the shoulder of the highway. The accident took place around 5:15 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
Emergency Response and Injuries
Emergency responders extricated Hall from the damaged SUV and transported him to Albany Medical Center with severe injuries.Despite medical attention, Hall was pronounced dead at the hospital on Tuesday. His dog died at the scene of the crash.
Tractor-Trailer driver Uninjured
The driver of the tractor-trailer was outside of the vehicle, inspecting it at the time of the collision and was not injured. Their name has not been released.
