Oil Discovery at Belida Block’s SAU-1 Well Boosts Indonesia’s Production Outlook
Jakarta, Indonesia – Recent well tests at the Sungai Wine Selata (SAU)-1 exploitation well within the Belida Block, managed by PT Sele Raya Belida, indicate a notable oil discovery with potential for considerable production increases. Initial results suggest production could reach 1,500 barrels per day (bpd) in addition to existing output, bolstering Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas targets for 2026.
Djoko siswanto, Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas business Activities (SKK Migas), confirmed the positive findings.”From the test results,it looks quite large, approximately 1,000 barrels per day (bpd) or even 1,500 bpd,” Djoko stated https://www.skkmigas.go.id/. He further noted that the well initially produced 3,200 bpd on december 28, 2025.
The anticipated increase stems from the SAS Utara section of the well. Halliburton logging data indicates two layers, each 20 feet thick, contributing to the optimistic production forecast. “Now we can produce 3,200 bpd. hopefully by the end of January there will be an additional 1,500 bpd from SAS Utara. With Halliburton’s logging results which state that the thickness of each layer is 20 feet and there are two layers, hopefully the testing results can reach 1,500 bpd,” explained Djoko. https://www.halliburton.com/
Production facilities are currently being prepared, with expectations for the additional 1,500 bpd to come online by the end of January 2026.This discovery adds to the overall optimism surrounding Indonesia’s oil production targets for the coming year. The belida Block is located in the Natuna Sea, a region increasingly important for Indonesia’s energy security.
