OKotte Man Rugby Team is hosting its third youth rugby academy from January 15 to 17 at the Incheon Hana Global Campus, according to an announcement by the club on January 11. The camp, titled “Are You Ready to Meet Real Rugby?”, brings together middle school rugby players and coaches from across South Korea for intensive athletic training and character development.
Since launching the program last year, the OKotte Man Rugby Team has occasionally hosted these academies to elevate foundational skills while emphasizing leadership and integrity. The curriculum focuses on practical rugby techniques, including passing, kicking, tackling, and contact work. In addition, tournament referees lead instructional sessions on official rules, and professional trainers conduct specialized seminars covering injury prevention and nutritional management.
Character Development and Educational Workshops
Beyond physical drills, the academy incorporates off-field educational programs designed to foster teamwork and communication among young athletes. According to the club’s schedule, participants write letters of appreciation to their parents and take part in a question-and-answer talk show featuring active OKotte Man players.
OK Rugby Festival Competition Events
The camp concludes with the “OK Rugby Festival,” a multi-event competition format featuring skill challenges and matches. According to event organizers, the final day includes mini rugby games for third-year students, tag rugby games for first- and second-year students, group passing challenges, rugby ball dribbling drills, perfect passing contests, and air tackling demonstrations.
Choi Yoon, chairman of OK Financial Group, emphasized the importance of the initiative for the sport’s domestic future. “We have opened a special learning place for the prospects who will become the solid roots of Korean rugby,” Choi stated, according to club materials. “We will help the prospects who will shoulder the future of Korean rugby know the true value of rugby and run around the ground to their heart’s content without worrying about injuries under systematic coaching.”
