Omoda C9 PHEV Launched in Malaysia: A Detailed Glance at the Hybrid SUV

The Omoda C9 PHEV has officially launched in Malaysia, offering a compelling blend of performance, efficiency, and technology. Priced at RM208,800 on-the-road without insurance, this plug-in hybrid SUV is initially available as a limited-run CBU (completely built-up) model of 50 units, with locally assembled (CKD) units already in production in Shah Alam [1].

Powertrain and Performance

The Omoda C9 PHEV boasts a Super Hybrid System (SHS), similar to that found in the Jaecoo J7 PHEV, but with a key enhancement: a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). This DHT allows the petrol engine to directly drive the wheels at lower speeds, improving acceleration. [3]

The powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 143 PS and 215 Nm of torque with a dual-motor front setup (P2 integrated starter-generator: 102 PS/170 Nm and P2.5 traction motor: 122 PS/220 Nm) and a 238 PS/310 Nm motor driving the rear axle. This configuration delivers a combined output of 537 PS and 650 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. [1]

Electric Range and Charging

Equipped with a 34 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the Omoda C9 PHEV offers an electric range of up to 145 km (WLTP). When combined with its 70-liter fuel tank, the total range can reach 1,100 km. [1] The vehicle supports DC fast charging up to 70 kW, allowing for a 30-80% charge in approximately 25 minutes.

Features and Warranty

The Omoda C9 PHEV comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of features, including a sophisticated driving assistance system, a 540-degree camera, and eight airbags. [1]

Buyers who book the C9 PHEV between March 18 and April 30, 2026, will receive a launch package including a RM3,000 “duit Raya” rebate and a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) connector valued at RM730. [1] A limited number of CBU units will too receive one year of complimentary insurance coverage (valued at RM6,000), although supplies last. [1]

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia provides a vehicle warranty of seven years or 200,000 km, including a 10-year warranty for the electric drive system. [1]
