‘One Battle After Another’ Dominates 2026 BAFTA Awards

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another was the large winner at the 2026 EE British Academy Film Awards, taking home six awards, including Best Film and Best Director. The politically charged thriller triumphed at the ceremony held Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall in London .

Surprises in Acting Categories

While One Battle After Another was widely expected to perform well, the acting categories saw some unexpected results. Robert Aramayo won the Best Actor award for his role in I Swear, beating out favorites Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another) and Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) . Aramayo’s performance as a Scottish man with Tourette’s syndrome was particularly praised.

Jessie Buckley was named Best Leading Actress for her portrayal of Agnes in Hamnet, a British historical drama about the grief of William Shakespeare and his wife over the loss of their son. Buckley is considered a strong contender for the upcoming Oscars .

Other Notable Wins

Sentimental Value was recognized as the Best Non-English Language Film. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein secured three awards in technical categories . Hamnet was also awarded Outstanding British Film.
