Myanmar Junta Raids Online Scam Headquarters

Naypyidaw – Myanmar’s military junta has raided the headquarters of an online fraud operation, arresting over 300 people.

AFP reported that local media, The Global New Light of Myanmar, stated the raid on the Shwe Kokko online scam headquarters near the thai border took place on Tuesday morning local time. all those arrested were foreign nationals.

Online scam headquarters have become prevalent in myanmar’s conflict-ridden border areas since the 2021 military coup. These buildings house fraudsters who take advantage of internet users through romance and business scams.
